WARCOP was
established in the summer of 1999 . The project and plant was
going to be set up in Moscow initially but a decision was taken
to implement and introduce our beers to the home market before
we set up in Moscow .
The
name WARCOP derives from the family initials -

The
Brewery
The
brewery was established in a milking parlour which was converted
to a facility suitable for brewing beer .
The Brewer
Dr
William Picton BSc. , PhD.. A degree in Chemistry and a
Doctorate in Enzyme kinetics .
Initially
worked for 7 years in a Pharmaceutical Research Company (Organon
Laboratories Ltd. Newhouse , Scotland ) studying the effects of
drugs in the field of Dermatology - Wound Healing/Burns , Acne
and Psoriasis .
Worked
for 17 years in Amersham International plc - senior production
manager in the manufacture of radioactive and non-radioactive
immunodiagnostics which are used in hospitals , clinical
diagnostic testing centres and research institutes all over the
world . Spent five years in Moscow transferring this technology
to the Institute of Cardiology in Moscow .
The
area
The brewery is sited at Newhouse Farm in St Brides
, Wentlooge , South Wales which is situated on the coast between
Cardiff and Newport . The area is a flat , below sea-level ,
former marshland and has been designated a site of special
scientific interest , stemming mainly from the natural wildlife
and birdlife that inhabits the area .
